Welcome back! I hope this letter finds you and your family in good health and high spirits. As we embark on another school year, marked by new beginnings, I am thrilled to share some exciting updates with you. Our transition to becoming the Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School brings a renewed sense of enthusiasm and purpose to our learning community.
This season is brimming with anticipation, not only for academic accomplishments, but also for the cultivation of social connections and emotional well-being that are integral to our students' growth. At MLKMS, our commitment remains steadfast in nurturing an environment that paves the way for each child's complete development.
As we set forth on this journey, our dedicated staff stands poised to guide and support your children. Our educators possess up-to-date knowledge and skills around instruction and will participate in consistent professional development to ensure that they remain at the forefront of the latest instructional methodologies and social-emotional learning (SEL) practices. Armed with a collection of carefully curated programs and resources, our teachers are equipped to inspire learning and growth throughout each day.
Our first day of school is Thursday, September 7, 2023. September 7th and 8th are half days with dismissal being 12:30 P.M. We will resume our regular schedule September 11, 2023 (please see attached for more information regarding your child’s schedule). Our district uniform policies will be enforced throughout the school year.
I extend a heartfelt invitation for you to join us in a collaborative partnership as we navigate this new chapter together. By working hand in hand, we can provide our students with an elevated platform for success — not just academically, but also socially and emotionally. With unwavering optimism, I truly believe that this year holds the promise of being our most remarkable yet.
